What It Is

Lucas Oil is a high-viscosity, petroleum-based oil additive designed for small engines in lawn mowers, tractors, and other outdoor power equipment. It helps reduce engine wear, lower operating temperatures, and quiet noisy valves in older or high-hour engines.

Fitment & Compatibility

• Engine type: Works with 4-stroke small engines (Briggs & Stratton, Kohler, Honda, Kawasaki, Tecumseh). Not for 2-stroke mix or electric mowers.
• Oil capacity: Add 1–2 ounces per quart of engine oil. Do not exceed 10% of total oil volume.
• Compatibility: Safe with conventional, synthetic, and blended oils. Can be used in air-cooled or liquid-cooled engines.
• Check before buying: Verify your mower’s oil type (SAE 30, 10W-30, etc.) and current oil level. Lucas Oil thickens oil, so it’s best for engines that burn or leak oil, not for new engines with tight tolerances.

Should You Buy It

Buy if you have an older mower (5+ years, high hours) that smokes, burns oil, or has noisy lifters. Not necessary for new or well-maintained engines. Ideal for extending the season on a workhorse mower without a full rebuild.
