What It Is

This is the OEM air filter element (Part # 17211-ZL8-000) for Honda GCV, GXV, and GSV series small engines—used on walk-behind mowers, pressure washers, and generators. It traps dirt and debris before air enters the carburetor, keeping the engine running clean.

Fitment & Compatibility

  • Check your engine model: This fits Honda GCV135, GCV160, GCV190, GXV140, GXV160, GXV190, and GSV190 engines. Look for the engine model number stamped on the blower housing or valve cover.
  • Not universal: Will not fit Honda HRX, HRR, or HRS mowers with the larger “twin filter” system (those use 17211-Z0J-000). Also no good for Kohler, Briggs & Stratton, or Kawasaki engines.
  • OEM vs aftermarket: This is genuine Honda—same as what came on the mower new. Aftermarket filters may fit but often have looser foam or different pleat density.
  • Measurements: Approx. 4.5" x 2.5" x 1.5". If your current filter is noticeably bigger or smaller, it’s wrong.

Key Things to Know

  • Quality: OEM foam-paper hybrid seals well and lasts a full season under normal use. Aftermarket copies often degrade faster in heat or humidity.
  • Install difficulty: Dead simple—pop the air cleaner cover (usually a single wing nut or clip), remove old filter, drop in new one, and re-secure. No tools needed.
  • Common gotcha: Don’t over-oil if you’re using a foam pre-filter. This element is dry; oiling it will choke airflow and cause rough idle.
  • When to replace: Change every 50 hours or yearly, whichever comes first. If you mow in dusty/dry conditions, check every 25 hours.

Should You Buy It

If you own a Honda-powered mower or small equipment with a GCV/GXV/GSV engine, this is the exact filter you need. The price is low, the fit is guaranteed, and it’ll save you from carburetor repairs caused by dirt ingestion. Skip the cheap knockoffs—this OEM part is worth the few extra bucks for reliability.
