What It Is

This is Echo’s genuine OEM Red Armor 2-cycle oil, pre-measured for a 2-gallon fuel mix at 50:1. It’s designed for Echo trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, and other air-cooled 2-cycle engines—not for 4-stroke mowers.

Fitment & Compatibility

  • Engine type: Only for 2-cycle, air-cooled engines. Not for 4-stroke mowers or water-cooled equipment.
  • Mix ratio: 50:1 (2.6 oz per gallon). This 5.2 oz bottle treats exactly 2 gallons of gasoline. Do not use with 40:1 or 32:1 engines unless specified.
  • Brand cross-use: Works in any 2-cycle engine that requires 50:1 mix (e.g., Husqvarna, Stihl, Ryobi), but it’s optimized for Echo’s tolerances. Using in non-Echo engines is fine, but verify your engine’s mix ratio first.
  • Fuel type: Use with fresh, unleaded gasoline (87 octane minimum). Avoid ethanol-blended gas over E10 if possible.

Key Things to Know

  • Quality: Red Armor is a full-synthetic oil with detergents that reduce carbon buildup and extend spark plug life. It meets JASO FD and ISO L-EGD standards—better than basic mineral oils.
  • Installation difficulty: Trivial. Pour entire 5.2 oz bottle into a clean 2-gallon gas can, add 2 gallons of gas, shake well. No measuring needed.
  • Common gotcha: This is a 2-gallon mix bottle. If your mower only needs 1 gallon, you’ll waste half unless you have another 2-cycle tool. No 1-gallon version exists in this product.
  • Shelf life: Unopened, store in a cool, dry place for up to 3 years. Opened bottles should be used within a year.

Should You Buy It

Buy this if you own Echo 2-cycle equipment and want a no-mix, pre-measured oil that reduces engine wear and smoke. It’s also a solid choice for any 50:1 2-cycle engine if you value convenience and synthetic protection over cheaper mineral oils. Skip it if you only have a 4-stroke mower or need a 1-gallon mix.
