What It Is

The YINTATECH 48" Tow Behind Plug Aerator is a towable lawn care attachment designed to pull soil cores from your lawn, improving air, water, and nutrient flow. It works with most riding mowers, garden tractors, or ATVs with a standard 2-inch hitch receiver.

Fitment & Compatibility

Before buying, check these three things:

• Hitch size: Requires a 2-inch receiver (Class I, II, or III). If your mower has a 1-1/4" receiver, you’ll need an adapter.
• Tow capacity: Your mower must be able to pull 120–150 lbs (empty weight) plus the drag resistance of 12 tines digging into soil. Most lawn tractors (15+ HP) can handle it, but small subcompact tractors may struggle.
• Deck clearance: The aerator is 48" wide, so your mower’s rear tires should be at least 48" apart to avoid the aerator frame hitting the deck. Measure from outside to outside of your rear tires. No OEM compatibility needed—it’s universal.

• Quality: The frame is heavy-duty steel, but the tines are hollow steel (not hardened). They’ll bend if you hit rocks or roots. Expect to replace tines after 2–3 seasons on rough ground.
• Installation: No tools needed for assembly—just slide the hitch pin in and secure with a cotter pin. Adding 50–75 lbs of weight (sandbags or suitcase weights) to the top tray is required for consistent plug depth in hard soil.
• Common gotchas: The aerator won’t penetrate dry, compacted clay without extra weight. Also, the 48" width can be too wide for tight turns—plan for a wider turning radius than your mower alone.
• Maintenance: Tines will clog with wet soil; use a wire brush to clear them after each use. Store dry to prevent rust on the frame and tines.
