What It Is

These are aftermarket mulching blades designed for 42-inch John Deere lawn tractors and zero-turn mowers. They replace OEM blades to improve grass clipping shredding for finer discharge and better lawn feeding.

Fitment & Compatibility

• Deck size: Only for 42-inch cutting decks (verify your deck model—typically stamped “42” on the deck housing).
• Compatible models: LA100, LA110, LA120, LA105, LA115, LA135, Z225, X110, and others using the same 42″ deck. Does not fit 48″ or 54″ decks.
• OEM replacement: Direct fit for John Deere OEM part numbers M156715, M165014, AM141448, and AM146495. If your current blade has one of these numbers, these will swap in without modification.
• Measurements: Center hole diameter is 1″; blade length is approximately 21-1/2″ (check your current blade length before ordering). Thickness is 0.203″.
• What to check: Measure your existing blade length and center hole size. Confirm your deck model number (e.g., “42C” or “42E”) on the deck sticker.

Key Things to Know

• Mulching vs. bagging: These are mulching blades—they have a curved, high-lift design to chop clippings finer. Not ideal for bagging; if you primarily bag, stick with standard lift blades.
• Installation difficulty: Easy, one-bolt-per-blade swap. Use a torque wrench to tighten to 50–70 ft-lbs. Do not reuse old lock washers.
• Sharpness out of the box: They come factory-sharp but may need a quick touch-up after first mow if you hit rocks or sticks.
• Balance: Blades are balanced from the factory, but always check balance on a blade balancer before installing to avoid vibration.
