VP Racing Fuels 6635 Fix-It Fuel is a ready-to-use, ethanol-free fuel blend designed to revive or replace stale fuel in non-running 2-cycle and 4-cycle small engines. It’s intended for lawn mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, leaf blowers, and other outdoor power equipment suffering from gummed-up carburetors or hard starting.
Fitment & Compatibility
- Engine types: Works with both 2-cycle (requires oil mix—check your engine’s ratio) and 4-cycle small engines.
- Fuel system: Replaces existing fuel in the tank and carburetor; do not mix with old fuel—drain the system first.
- Container size: 1 quart per bottle (8-pack). One quart typically treats one small engine (e.g., push mower, trimmer). For larger engines (e.g., riding mowers), you may need multiple quarts.
- No special adapters: Pours directly into the fuel tank. No modifications needed.
- OEM vs aftermarket: Compatible with all brands (Honda, Briggs & Stratton, Kohler, Stihl, Echo, etc.) as long as the engine uses gasoline.
Key Things to Know
- Quality: Ethanol-free formula prevents phase separation and corrosion; stabilizers clean varnish and gum from carburetors without disassembly.
- Installation difficulty: Very easy. Drain old fuel, add Fix-It Fuel, start the engine (may require priming or multiple pulls). No tools needed.
- Common gotchas: Do not mix with old fuel—drain completely. For 2-cycle engines, you must add oil per your engine’s ratio (usually 50:1 or 40:1); this fuel does not contain pre-mix oil.
- Storage: Once opened, use within 2 years if sealed; shelf life is excellent. Stored fuel in the tank can last up to 2 years without degrading.
Should You Buy It
Buy this if you have a stubborn non-runner with a gummed carburetor and want a no-disassembly fix, or if you need a long-stable, ethanol-free fuel for seasonal equipment. It’s ideal for homeowners with 2-3 small engines and a low tolerance for carb cleaning. Not for pros who rebuild carbs regularly—standard ethanol-free fuel with stabilizer is cheaper for routine use.
