What It Is

This is the OEM composite deflector shield (part #138-7502) that mounts on the discharge chute of your riding mower to redirect grass clippings downward and away from the operator. It’s designed for Toro TimeCutter and Exmark Quest zero-turn mowers with 42, 50, 54, or 60-inch decks.

Fitment & Compatibility

Check your deck size and model series. This shield fits Toro TimeCutter models (SS4225, SS5000, SS5400, SS6000) and Exmark Quest models (QZT, QZT-S, QZT-LE) with 42, 50, 54, or 60-inch fabricated decks. It does not fit stamped-steel decks or older TimeCutter/Quest models before 2010. Measure the existing shield’s mounting hole spacing: OEM spec is 2.75 inches center-to-center. If your shield is cracked or missing, this is a direct bolt-on replacement—no drilling or modifications needed. Avoid aftermarket copies; they often warp in heat or crack at the hinge pin.

Key Things to Know

  • Material: Composite plastic is lighter than metal but can become brittle in freezing temps. Store the mower indoors or replace in spring if cracked.
  • Installation: 15-minute job with a 3/8-inch socket and a flathead screwdriver to remove the hairpin clip on the hinge pin. No special tools required.
  • Common gotcha: The hinge pin (sold separately, #108-4730) often seizes if not greased annually. Buy a new pin if yours is rusty.
  • Safety: A missing or broken deflector can throw debris back at you—replace immediately if cracked. This part is required for safe operation and may be needed for warranty claims.

Should You Buy It

Buy this if you own a Toro TimeCutter or Exmark Quest with a 42–60-inch fabricated deck and your current shield is cracked, missing, or faded. It’s a direct OEM fit that lasts 3-5 years with normal use. Skip it if you have an older model (pre-2010) or a stamped-steel deck—verify your deck type first.
