What It Is

This SK5 steel serrated brush cutter blade is a 10-inch metal accessory designed for weed trimmers/brush cutters. It replaces standard nylon line for heavy-duty clearing of thick grass, weeds, brambles, and light brush.

Fitment & Compatibility

Before buying, verify these three things:

  • Arbor hole size: This blade uses a standard 20mm (0.79") center hole with a 25.4mm (1") inner diameter on the retaining nut side. Measure your trimmer’s shaft and nut.
  • Trimmer type: Works with curved-shaft and straight-shaft trimmers that accept universal brush cutter blades. Compatible with Husqvarna, Stihl, Oregon, and Hitachi models—but not all trimmers from these brands accept metal blades. Check your owner’s manual for “brush cutter blade” approval.
  • Safety guard: You must have a metal blade-compatible guard (usually wider and reinforced). Using a standard string trimmer guard with a metal blade is dangerous and voids warranty.

Key Things to Know

  • Installation difficulty: Moderate. You’ll need a wrench to remove the string head and a socket (usually 8mm or 10mm) to tighten the blade nut. No special tools required.
  • Performance: SK5 steel stays sharp longer than standard steel, but serrated edges dull faster on sandy or rocky soil. Expect to sharpen every 2-4 hours of heavy use.
  • Safety critical: Metal blades kick back violently if they hit rocks, fences, or roots. Always wear chaps, eye protection, and work at low RPM near obstacles.
  • Not for light trimming: These blades chop, not slice. They’ll tear up grass and leave a rough cut. Use only for heavy brush, not lawn edging.

Should You Buy It

Buy this if you regularly clear thick weeds, blackberries, or saplings and need a durable, affordable metal blade for occasional heavy use. Skip it if you only trim lawn edges or want a clean finish—nylon line is better for those jobs.
