The Oregon 20-034 Magnum Gutorline Supertwist is a heavy-duty .105" gauge trimmer line designed for clearing thick weeds, briars, and light brush. It’s a 1 lb. donut spool yielding 289 feet, intended for gas and high-power electric string trimmers, not lightweight cordless units.
Fitment & Compatibility
This is an aftermarket line, not OEM for any specific brand. Before buying:
- Check your trimmer’s line diameter limit. Most trimmers accept .080"–.105". Using .105" on a small electric or homeowner gas trimmer may overload the head or cause poor feeding.
- Verify head type. This line works with bump-feed, fixed-line, and quick-load heads. It does not fit pre-wound spools—you must cut and install manually.
- EGO brand note: EGO’s commercial and high-end residential trimmers (e.g., 56V Power+ models) often accept .105" line, but check your manual. EGO’s factory line is typically .095"–.105". This Oregon line is thicker than many EGO stock lines.
- Measure your current line diameter with calipers. .105" is about 2.7mm. If your trimmer head says “max .095”,” do not use this.
Key Things to Know
- Quality: Supertwist design adds a spiral ridge for quieter operation and less vibration. It’s more durable than round line but less aggressive than square or star-shaped lines.
- Installation: Moderate difficulty. The line is stiff—soak in warm water for 10 minutes before winding to prevent kinking. You must cut to length and wind manually; no pre-cut pieces included.
- Common gotcha: The 1 lb. donut is bulky. It won’t fit on small trimmer head spools that hold only 15–20 feet. You’ll have leftover line for multiple refills.
- Performance: Cuts well in tall grass and briars but struggles in heavy woody brush—use a dedicated blade for that.
Should You Buy It
Buy this if you have a gas or high-power electric trimmer (e.g., EGO 56V commercial, Stihl, Echo) and regularly tackle thick weeds or overgrown areas. Skip it for small electric trimmers or if you need quick, pre-wound spools—this requires manual winding and is overkill for light grass.
