What It Is

The MaxxHaul 50946 Aluminum Ramp Top Kit is a set of two aluminum ramp ends that attach to your own 2"x8" boards to create custom loading ramps. It’s designed for loading lawn mowers, ATVs, wheelbarrows, or other wheeled equipment into trucks, trailers, sheds, or over curbs.

Fitment & Compatibility

  • Board size: Requires two 2"x8" boards (actual dimensions: 1.5" thick x 7.25" wide). Board length is up to you—common lengths are 6–8 ft for lawn mowers.
  • No mower-specific fit: This is a universal ramp top—no brand or model limits. Works with any mower that fits on the board width (most walk-behinds and small zero-turns up to ~1,000 lbs total).
  • Weight limit: Each ramp top is rated for 700 lbs, so a pair supports 1,400 lbs total. Check your mower’s weight against that.
  • Hitch/connection: The ramp top has a lip that hooks over the tailgate or trailer edge (width: ~2.5" lip). Make sure your tailgate or trailer edge is at least that thick and sturdy enough to hold the load.

Key Things to Know

  • Installation is easy: Just slide the ramp top over the end of your 2x8 board and drill through the pre-drilled holes to bolt it on (hardware included). No welding or special tools needed.
  • Boards not included: You supply the lumber, which is cheap and replaceable. Use pressure-treated or hardwood for durability, especially if using in wet conditions.
  • No safety chain or strap loops: The kit doesn’t include tie-down points—you’ll need to add your own straps or chains to secure the ramp to the vehicle/trailer.
  • Not for heavy commercial use: The aluminum ends are sturdy for homeowner/light commercial, but repeated heavy loads (e.g., daily tractor loading) may bend the lip over time.

Should You Buy It

Buy it if you already have 2x8 boards lying around or want a low-cost, custom-length ramp for loading a lawn mower or ATV into a truck or trailer. It’s a great value for occasional use, but skip it if you need a complete, pre-built ramp with integrated safety features or if you load heavy equipment daily.
