What It Is

The Husqvarna Rapid Replace string trimmer head is a pre-wound, bump-feed head designed for quick line replacement without disassembly. It fits most Husqvarna straight and curved shaft trimmers, as well as many other brands with compatible shaft sizes.

Fitment & Compatibility

Before buying, measure your trimmer’s output shaft diameter and thread pitch. This head fits 10mm (0.394") left-hand thread shafts, which is standard on most Husqvarna models (e.g., 128LD, 129L, 324L, 525L, 525LK). It also works on many curved shaft trimmers with the same thread size. Check your manual or measure the existing head’s thread—this is an OEM Husqvarna part (part # 585 56 87-01), so it’s a direct replacement for Husqvarna heads. It is not compatible with 7/16" or 8mm shafts common on other brands like Echo, Stihl, or Ryobi.

Key Things to Know

  • Pre-wound line: Comes with 0.095" (2.4mm) diameter line, good for light to medium duty trimming. For thicker brush, you’ll need to replace with heavier line.
  • No-tool reload: The Rapid Replace system uses a cartridge that snaps in—no need to remove the head or disassemble. Just pop the old cartridge off and snap a new one on.
  • Bump-feed only: Not a fixed-line or automatic-feed head. You must tap the head on the ground to advance line—some users find this less convenient than auto-feed.
  • Durability: Plastic housing is lightweight but can crack if you hit hard objects repeatedly. Avoid striking concrete or rocks.

Should You Buy It

Buy this if you have a compatible Husqvarna trimmer and want the fastest, cleanest line changes without tools. It’s ideal for homeowners who trim regularly and dislike winding line. Skip it if you have a different brand or need a heavy-duty head for commercial use—look for a metal or universal replacement instead.
