What It Is

This is a 1/2” wide by 88.9” long heavy-duty drive belt for 40- to 54-inch cutting deck tractors (primarily John Deere 100/200 series and LA-series) that transfers power from the engine to the mower deck. It uses an aramid core to resist stretching and breaking under heavy use.

Fitment & Compatibility

Always measure your old belt – length must be exactly 88.9 inches (outside circumference) and width 1/2 inch. This belt fits specific John Deere models with 42” or 48” decks: D110, D125, D130, D140, D160, L120, L130, S100, S120, S130, S140, S170, S180, S240, and LA115. It replaces OEM part numbers GX20006 and UC30568. Will not fit models with 54” decks (e.g., D170, X300 series) or any zero-turn mower. Check your mower’s deck size and model number before ordering.

Key Things to Do

  • Measure your old belt – even if your model is listed, aftermarket deck swaps or worn pulleys can change required length.
  • Inspect pulleys and idlers – a new belt on a seized or worn pulley will fail quickly. Replace any rough-spinning or wobbly pulleys.
  • Installation difficulty – moderate. You’ll need to remove the deck or at least the belt cover, release tension from the idler arm, and route the belt per your mower’s diagram (usually printed on the deck).
  • Aramid core benefit – this belt won’t stretch over time like rubber belts. It’s also more resistant to heat and abrasion from debris.

Should You Buy It

If you own one of the listed John Deere models and want a durable, zero-stretch belt that won’t need annual replacement, this is a solid upgrade over standard rubber belts. It’s particularly good for rough lawns, frequent mulching, or any use that stresses the drive system. Avoid if you need a 54” deck belt or if your pulleys are damaged.
