What It Is

This is a set of two aftermarket mulching blades designed for 42-inch cutting decks on select Toro TimeCutter and Exmark Quest zero-turn mowers. Mulching blades use a curved, high-lift design to recut grass clippings into fine particles that settle into the lawn as natural fertilizer.

Fitment & Compatibility

Before buying, verify these three things:

  • Deck size: Your mower must have a 42-inch deck – this blade set will not fit 44", 50", or 60" decks.
  • Model compatibility: Confirmed for Toro TimeCutter SS4225, SS4235, MX4250, and Exmark Quest 42" models. Check your owner’s manual or current blade part number.
  • OEM cross-reference: Replaces Toro OEM part numbers 110-6568-03 and 106-2247-03. Measure your current blade length (should be ~21.5 inches) and center hole diameter (1-inch hex or round) to confirm.

If your mower uses a different OEM blade number (e.g., 112-4322), these won’t fit.

Key Things to Know

  • Quality vs OEM: These are aftermarket blades – slightly thinner steel than genuine Toro blades. They’ll cut fine but may dull faster or deform if you hit thick debris.
  • Installation difficulty: Easy – requires a wrench and socket to remove the center bolt. No special tools needed. Torque to 70-90 ft-lbs (check your manual).
  • Common gotcha: Mulching blades work best with a mulching plug/cover installed. If you bag or side-discharge, these will still cut but won’t perform optimally.
  • Balance check: Aftermarket blades sometimes arrive unbalanced. Spin-test on a blade balancer before installing to avoid vibration and spindle damage.

Should You Buy It

If you own a Toro TimeCutter or Exmark Quest with a 42" deck and want to save roughly $10-15 over OEM blades for occasional mulching, this is a solid budget choice. But if you mow large, rough lawns or demand OEM-grade durability, stick with genuine Toro blades.
