What It Is

This is a 3/16" thick steel reinforcement ring designed to repair or prevent deck spindle mount failure on select John Deere mowers. It bolts directly under the spindle to strengthen a cracked or weakened deck pan, extending the life of the deck without replacing the whole housing.

Fitment & Compatibility

  • Models: Fits John Deere D100-D160, L100-L130, LA105, LA165, and X110-X140 series (including X120, X125, X130, X140).
  • Deck size: Works with 42", 48", and 54" stamped steel decks. Not for fabricated decks or older 38" decks.
  • OEM vs aftermarket: Aftermarket replacement for OEM part number AM137333. Measure the spindle bolt pattern before ordering—it uses three bolts on a 3.25" center-to-center triangle.
  • What to check: Confirm your deck is stamped steel (not welded/fabricated) and that the spindle bolt holes aren’t already elongated beyond repair. The ring won’t fix severely rusted-out decks.

Key Things to Know

  • Installation difficulty: Moderate. Requires removing the spindle, cleaning the area, and bolting on the ring with included hardware. Deck removal may be needed for access.
  • Quality: 3/16" steel is thicker than most OEM deck material—adds real strength. Bolts are Grade 8, zinc-coated to resist rust.
  • Gotcha: Over-torquing the bolts can warp the deck or strip the ring threads. Torque to 30-35 ft-lbs max.
  • Not a permanent fix for major deck rot—works best on hairline cracks or as a preventive upgrade on high-hour decks.

Should You Buy It

Buy this if your deck has a small crack around a spindle hole or you want to reinforce a known weak point before it fails. It’s a cheap, durable fix for the common spindle mount failure on these Deere models. Skip it if the deck is rusted through or the mounting area is already missing metal—you’ll need a full deck replacement.
