This deck rebuild kit supplies all wear components needed to restore a 48-inch John Deere L120 or L130 mower deck to like-new condition. It includes spindles, blades, belt, and pulleys—everything required for a full deck overhaul.
Fitment & Compatibility
Deck size: Fits only 48-inch decks. Measure your deck width before ordering—L120 and L130 models came with either 42" or 48" decks, and this kit is specific to the 48" version.
OEM part numbers: Spindles replace GY20050, blades replace GX20245 (OEM) or GX20244 (alternate), belt replaces GX21833, large pulleys replace GY20110, small pulleys replace GY20067.
Aftermarket vs OEM: This is an aftermarket kit. It matches OEM dimensions but may use different bearing or belt brands. Confirm your existing pulley bolt pattern (4-bolt for large pulleys) and spindle shaft diameter (5/8-inch).
Not compatible with: Z-series zero-turn mowers or 42-inch decks. Also incompatible with older L-series models (L100/L110) that use different spindle mounts.
Key Things to Know
- Quality varies by seller: Some kits include sealed bearings; others use open bearings that require greasing. Check product description for bearing type.
- Installation difficulty: Moderate to high. Requires removing the deck, swapping spindles, pulleys, and belt, and torquing bolts to spec (spindle bolts typically 40-50 ft-lbs). Allow 2–3 hours.
- Blade orientation: Blades are marked “this side up” or have a directional arrow. Install upside down and the deck will vibrate and cut poorly.
- Belt routing: The GX21833 belt is a replacement for the stock deck drive belt. Refer to your deck diagram—routing is not intuitive. Missing a pulley idler can cause belt slip.
Should You Buy It
Buy this kit if your L120 or L130 has worn spindles (wobbling blades, metal-on-metal noise), dull or bent blades, and a glazed or frayed belt. It’s a cost-effective one-stop solution for a full deck refresh, but only if you’re comfortable with mechanical work and have a torque wrench. For single-part replacements (e.g., just blades), buy individual components instead.
