What It Is

This is a transmission drive belt (OEM equivalent GX20006 / UC30568) that transfers power from the engine to the hydrostatic transaxle on select John Deere lawn tractors. It is designed specifically for 100-series (D100, LA100) models with a 42-inch or 48-inch deck.

Fitment & Compatibility

Before buying, verify your mower model and deck size. This belt fits John Deere D110–D170, LA110–LA175, and select LA100/LA200 models (see full list). It does not fit LA105, LA115 with 38-inch deck, or any X300 series.

Measure your old belt: OEM belt length is 92.5 inches (outside circumference), 1/2-inch width. Caltric’s belt matches this spec, but always cross-reference your mower’s part number (GX20006 or UC30568) with the Caltric listing. If your model is not listed, check the owner’s manual or existing belt part number.

Key Things to Know

  • Quality: Caltric is an aftermarket brand—generally acceptable for light to medium use. Some reviews note shorter lifespan than OEM (3–4 seasons vs. 5+). Inspect for fraying after heavy use.
  • Installation: Moderate difficulty. You’ll need to remove the mower deck, belt covers, and possibly the transmission pulley. Watch a YouTube tutorial for your specific model.
  • Common gotchas: The belt may be slightly tighter than OEM on first install—allow a few minutes of run-in. Double-check belt routing; wrong path can cause slipping or premature wear.
  • No pulley included: This is just the belt. If your pulleys are worn or have rough edges, replace them too to avoid belt damage.

Should You Buy It

This belt is a budget-friendly option for DIY owners with a listed John Deere model who need a quick replacement at a low cost. It’s not ideal for commercial use or heavy-duty mowing (e.g., thick, wet grass weekly). If you want maximum durability and a perfect fit, stick with OEM John Deere. For occasional residential mowing, the Caltric belt works fine.
