What It Is

This is an aftermarket drive belt for MTD/Cub Cadet lawn tractors. It transfers power from the engine pulley to the transmission or deck, depending on your model. Designed for 50–54-inch deck tractors like the XT1-GT50, XT1-GT54, and XT2-GX54.

Fitment & Compatibility

Before buying, verify these three things:

  • Model number: Fits Cub Cadet XT1-GT50, XT1-GT54, XT2-GX54. Also fits some MTD and Troy-Bilt tractors with the same deck size. Check your owner’s manual or deck sticker.
  • Belt dimensions: 1/2-inch wide x 90.9 inches long. Measure your old belt or confirm the OEM part number matches: 754-05027, 754-05027A, 954-05027, or 954-05027A.
  • Deck size: Works with 50-inch and 54-inch decks. Does not fit 42-inch or 46-inch decks.

If your tractor has a different deck size or belt length, this won’t work.

Key Things to Know

  • Aramid cord construction – Stronger than standard rubber belts, resists stretching and heat better. Good for heavy use.
  • Installation difficulty – Moderate. You’ll need to remove the deck or belt guards. A spring puller helps with the tensioner. Expect 30–60 minutes.
  • Common gotcha – This belt is the drive belt (engine to transmission), not the deck belt (deck to blades). Confirm which belt you’re replacing before ordering.
  • Noise or slipping – If the belt is too loose after install, check the tensioner spring and pulley alignment. A few users report needing to adjust the idler pulley.

Should You Buy It

If you need a reliable, affordable replacement for the OEM belt on your XT1 or XT2 50/54-inch tractor, this is a solid choice. The aramid cord gives it better longevity than cheap rubber belts, and the price is about half of Cub Cadet’s OEM part. Skip it if you’re replacing a deck belt or have a different model.
