What It Is

This is a replacement discharge chute (mulch/bagging deflector) for 42" and 48" decks on select John Deere lawn tractors. It routes grass clippings out the side deck opening and prevents debris from flying toward the operator.

Fitment & Compatibility

• Deck size: Fits 42" and 48" side-discharge decks only. Measure your deck width (blade tip to tip) before ordering.
• Models: D100, D105, D110, D120, E100, E110, E120, E140, E150, E160, E170, LA155. Also fits LA140, LA150, LA165, LA175 with 42" or 48" decks.
• OEM cross-reference: Replaces John Deere GY22100, GY20443, GY21901. These are direct-fit aftermarket parts.
• Check mounting: The chute attaches with two bolts (typically 5/16" or 3/8") and a hinge pin. Verify your deck has the matching bracket holes – some older decks may use a different hinge design.
• Not compatible with: Zero-turn mowers, X-series tractors, or 54"/60" decks.

Key Things to Know

• Material: Molded plastic (HDPE). Feels similar to OEM but may be slightly thinner. Holds up fine for residential use but can crack if you hit rocks or stumps.
• Installation: 10–15 minutes. You’ll need a socket wrench and possibly a flathead screwdriver to align the hinge pin. No cutting or drilling required.
• Common gotcha: The hinge pin can be tight. Lubricate with WD-40 or silicone spray before pushing through. Don’t force it or the plastic ears may break.
• Mulching note: This chute is for side-discharge only. If you mulch, you must remove it or use a dedicated mulching plug.

Should You Buy It

If your OEM chute is cracked, missing, or the hinge is broken, this is a solid budget fix. It’s not as thick as John Deere’s original, but for residential mowing on 42" or 48" decks, it works fine. Avoid if you need a heavy-duty commercial part or have a different deck size.
