This 8TEN 3-pack of spindle pulleys is a direct replacement for the OEM pulleys (part GX21381, AM137329) used on John Deere 54-inch mower decks. It drives the blades via the belt and is designed for residential and light-commercial zero-turn and lawn tractor models.
Fitment & Compatibility
Before buying, verify your deck is a 54-inch Edge, 7-Iron, or standard 54-inch fabricated deck. Compatible John Deere models include: LA150, LA175, D170, G110, D110, D130, D140, L100, L110, L120, L130, X300, X304, X320, X324, X340, X360, and select Z500 series zero-turns. Do not assume fitment on 42-inch, 48-inch, or 60-inch decks. Measure your existing pulley: the 8TEN pulley has a 3.5-inch outer diameter, a 0.625-inch (5/8") shaft bore, and uses a 1-inch-wide belt. It comes with a 12mm hex nut, but you may need a new dust cap or spacer if yours is worn.
Key Things to Know
- Quality: 8TEN pulleys are aftermarket steel with a painted finish—good for the price, but not as heavy-duty as OEM cast-iron pulleys. They hold up well for residential mowing on flat lawns.
- Installation difficulty: Moderate. You’ll need a socket wrench, breaker bar, and a puller or penetrating oil to remove stuck old pulleys. The included nut is fine, but torque to 35-40 ft-lbs; over-tightening can warp the pulley.
- Common gotchas: The dust cap on some Deere decks may not fit these pulleys perfectly—reuse your old cap if possible. Also, if your deck has a different spindle shaft length, you may need a washer stack to align the belt.
- Pack size: You get three pulleys, so you can replace all spindles at once—this prevents uneven belt wear and blade vibration later.
Should You Buy It
If you have a 54-inch John Deere deck with worn or noisy spindles and want a budget-friendly fix for a few seasons of residential use, this 3-pack is a solid value. For heavy commercial mowing or decks with bent spindle housings, invest in OEM or a premium brand. Otherwise, this will save you money and time.
