This is an aftermarket deck belt designed to transfer power from the engine pulley to the mower blades on select John Deere Sabre and LA/L100-series lawn tractors. It replaces OEM part numbers GX20072 and GY20570.
Fitment & Compatibility
Check your deck size first. This belt fits 42-inch and 48-inch cutting decks only—not 38-inch or 54-inch. It works on these John Deere models: Sabre D100, 110, 120, 130; LA110, 120; L110, 111, 118; and X105. It also fits select older Sabre tractors with the same two-belt deck system.
Verify your OEM number. Look on the old belt for stamped numbers: GX20072 or GY20570. If yours is different (e.g., GX20073), this belt won’t work. The belt is 1/2 inch wide and 93.5 inches long—measure your old belt’s length if in doubt.
Aftermarket note. This is not a John Deere OEM belt, but the dimensions match the original spec. It’s a standard Kevlar-cogged V-belt, not a specialized serpentine belt.
Key Things to Know
- Quality is acceptable for the price. It’s a basic replacement belt. Expect 1-2 seasons of normal residential use. Heavy commercial use or frequent wet grass mowing will shorten its life.
- Installation is straightforward. No special tools needed—just a wrench to remove the deck, route the belt around the pulleys per your deck diagram, and reinstall. Takes about 20-30 minutes.
- Common gotcha: The belt may feel slightly tight on new pulleys. If your pulleys are worn or have rust, the belt may slip or squeal. Clean pulley grooves before installing.
- Double-check routing. Many users install it upside-down or miss a pulley. The cogged side rides against the pulleys, the flat side faces out. Follow your deck’s belt routing diagram (usually printed on the deck underside).
Should You Buy It
Buy it if you need a budget-friendly replacement for a residential John Deere with a 42" or 48" deck and you’re comfortable doing your own install. Skip it if you mow commercially, want OEM longevity, or have a different deck size—then spend more on a genuine John Deere belt.
