This is the OEM side discharge deflector chute assembly (part number 631-07619) that directs grass clippings out the side of your mower deck. It replaces a broken, cracked, or missing chute on select Cub Cadet and MTD zero-turn, lawn tractor, and select ride-on mowers with 50" or 54" decks.
Fitment & Compatibility
Critical check: This chute fits decks that are 50" or 54" wide, but only on specific models. It works on Cub Cadet XT1, XT2, ZT1, ZT2, LT, Ultima, and SLX54 series. Also fits select MTD-branded tractors with those deck sizes. Do not assume fit based on deck size alone—the mounting bracket and spring attachment points differ between deck designs. Measure your old chute’s pivot pin diameter (typically 3/8") and mounting hole spacing (roughly 4.5" center-to-center). This is an OEM Cub Cadet part, so it matches factory specs exactly. If you have a different brand (e.g., Troy-Bilt, Craftsman), you likely need a different deflector.
Key Things to Know
- Quality: OEM plastic is thick and UV-resistant—much better than cheap aftermarket chutes that warp or crack in a season.
- Installation: Easy—remove one hairpin clip and slide the old chute off the pivot pin. New one slides on, reattach the spring to the chute tab. No tools needed beyond maybe pliers for the spring.
- Spring included? This assembly usually comes with the chute only—check if you need a separate spring (part number 731-04821) if yours is rusted or missing.
- Common gotcha: The chute is handed (left-side discharge). Make sure your deck discharges on the left when sitting on the mower. If yours is right-side, this won’t fit.
Should You Buy It
If you have a Cub Cadet XT1/XT2/ZT1/ZT2/Ultima/SLX54 with a 50" or 54" deck and your original chute is broken or missing, this is the correct OEM replacement—it fits perfectly, lasts, and is priced reasonably. Skip it if your deck is a different size, brand, or if you need a right-side deflector.
