What It Is

This 2-pack spindle assembly kit replaces the factory spindles on Toro Timecutter 42" zero-turn mowers. It mounts the blade and pulley to the deck, transferring engine power to cut grass. Designed for residential/commercial use on 42" Timecutter decks.

Fitment & Compatibility

Before buying, check these three things:

  1. Deck size – This fits only 42" Toro Timecutter decks. Does not fit 50" or 60" decks.
  2. Model number – Confirmed fit for: SS4225, SS4235, SS4200, MX4250, SS4260. Also fits Toro 42" TimeCutter, TimeCutter SW, TimeCutter SS, and TimeCutter MX models with 42" fabricated decks.
  3. OEM cross-reference – Replaces Toro part numbers: 121-0751, 139-3214, 117-7267, 117-7439, 139-2433, 106-2175. If your spindle has one of these numbers stamped on it, this kit is a direct swap.

Practical check: Measure your existing spindle housing height (should be ~3.5") and bolt pattern (4-bolt, 3.5" center-to-center). If your deck uses a different pattern, this won’t work.

Key Things to Know

  • Quality – These are aftermarket spindles with sealed bearings. Expect comparable lifespan to OEM (2-3 seasons with regular use). Not as robust as genuine Toro, but 1/3 the price.
  • Installation – Moderate difficulty. Requires removing the deck, blade, pulley, and old spindle. You’ll need a puller for stubborn pulleys and a torque wrench (30-35 ft-lbs for blade bolts). Allow 1-2 hours.
  • Common gotcha – The kit includes two spindles but no mounting hardware or grease fittings (these are sealed, non-greaseable). Reuse your original bolts or buy new ones separately.
  • Deck alignment – After install, check blade tip clearance (should be 1/8"–1/4" above deck). Misalignment causes vibration and uneven cut.

Should You Buy It

If you own a Toro Timecutter with a 42" deck and your spindles are noisy, wobbly, or leaking grease, this is a cost-effective fix. It’s ideal for DIY homeowners who want to avoid a $200+ dealer repair. Not for commercial operators who need maximum durability—genuine Toro spindles last longer under heavy use.
