The 147-2909 V-belt drives the mower deck blades on Toro Timecutter 50" zero-turn riding mowers. It’s a deck drive belt, not a traction belt, so it only powers blade rotation.
Fitment & Compatibility
- Deck size: 50-inch cutting deck only. Do not use on 42", 54", or 60" decks.
- Machine models: Toro Timecutter models 77501, 77502, 77505, and 77515TA. Also fits some Toro Timecutter SS5000 and SS5025 units with the 50" deck.
- OEM vs aftermarket: This is a direct OEM replacement (Toro part 147-2909). Aftermarket equivalents exist but vary in quality; stick with OEM for exact fit.
- Measurements: Belt length is approximately 96.5 inches, width 1/2 inch. Check your old belt’s part number or measure length before ordering.
- What to check: Verify your mower’s deck size (measure cutting width), model number, and serial number range—some early Timecutter 50" decks used a different belt. Look for a worn or broken belt; if the belt is intact, compare routing path to confirm.
Key Things to Know
- Quality: OEM Toro belt is reinforced with Kevlar and resists stretching better than generic belts. Expect 2–3 seasons of normal use.
- Installation difficulty: Moderate. You’ll need to remove the deck belt cover, release tension from the idler pulley, and route the belt around all pulleys. A belt routing diagram is usually printed on the deck or in the manual.
- Common gotchas:
- If the belt is too tight or too loose, check the idler arm spring tension—it may be worn or broken.
- Always replace the belt with the deck off the ground and engine off. Never force the belt over a pulley; you can damage the belt or bearing.
- A slipping belt often means bad pulleys or spindles, not just a worn belt. Inspect all pulleys for wobble or damage before installing the new belt.
- Not a traction belt: This belt does not drive the wheels. If your mower won’t move, look for a different belt (usually a longer, wider one under the seat).
Should You Buy It
If you own a Toro Timecutter with a 50" deck and the deck belt is worn, frayed, or broken, this OEM belt is the correct, reliable fix. It’s priced fairly for the quality and will restore full blade power. Skip it if you need a traction belt or have a different deck size.
