What It Is

This is a replacement rear discharge deflector shield (also called a mulch plug or discharge chute cover) for 42-60 inch Toro Timecutter, Exmark, Quest, and E-Series zero-turn mowers. It redirects grass clippings downward for mulching or prevents debris from ejecting rearward when bagging.

Fitment & Compatibility

Check your deck size and model number. This shield fits 42", 50", 54", and 60" decks on Toro Timecutter, Exmark, Quest, and E-Series riders. Compatible with models like QZE725GKC42200, QZE725GKC50200, and QZS735GKC54200.

Verify OEM vs aftermarket. This is a direct OEM replacement for Toro part 138-7502. If your mower uses a different OEM number, it won’t fit without modification.

Measure your existing shield. Compare overall width and mounting hole spacing (approx. 8-10” between hinge points). The shield must clear the deck’s rear opening and seat bracket.

Not for: 36" decks, older Toro Z-Masters (pre-2010), or non-Toro/Exmark brands unless explicitly listed.

Key Things to Know

  • Installation is straightforward. Remove two hinge pins or bolts, slide old shield out, slide new one in, and re-pin. No tools required for most models.
  • Material is molded plastic. It’s durable but can crack if overtightened or forced onto a bent deck. Inspect hinge brackets for damage before installing.
  • Common gotcha: The shield may interfere with the seat safety switch if the deck is not in the lowest cutting position. Always lower the deck fully before installing.
  • Check for missing hardware. Some models use spring clips or cotter pins that may not be included. Keep your original hardware.

Should You Buy It

If your current deflector is cracked, missing, or won’t stay in place, this is a direct, no-hassle replacement for most 42-60” Toro/Exmark zero-turns. It’s well-reviewed, fits as expected, and costs less than a dealer part. Skip it if your deck or hinge brackets are bent—fix those first.
