What It Is

This is a 1/2-inch wide by 112-inch long replacement deck belt for Toro TimeCutter Z4200, Z4220, Z4235, and Z3400HLX zero-turn mowers (and select Lawn Boy models). It drives the mower blades off the engine pulley.

Fitment & Compatibility

Before buying, confirm your mower model and deck size — this belt fits 42-inch decks only on these specific models:

  • Toro TimeCutter: Z4200 (74360, 74380), Z4220 (74363), Z4235 (74365, 74366), Z4202 (74381)
  • Toro TimeCutter SS: 4225, 4235
  • Lawn Boy: Z3400HLX (81270)

Measure your old belt: it must be 1/2" wide x 112" long (cross-section width, not thickness). OEM part number is 110-6871. This is an aftermarket replacement — not OEM Toro. It will not fit 50-inch or 54-inch decks, nor older TimeCutter models with different belt routing.

Key Things to Know

  • Quality variance: Aftermarket belts may wear faster than OEM; inspect for fraying after 20–30 hours of use. Some users report shorter lifespan than genuine Toro belts.
  • Installation difficulty: Moderate — you’ll need to remove the deck or at least the belt shield and idler pulley tension. Use a 3/8-inch socket or wrench. No special tools required.
  • Common gotcha: The belt must be routed exactly as the diagram under the deck shows. Incorrect routing causes slipping or blade disengagement. Take a photo before removing the old belt.
  • Tension check: After installation, manually spin the blades — the belt should be snug but not tight. If it’s loose, the idler spring may be worn; replace it if needed.

Should You Buy It

If you’re on a tight budget and need a quick replacement for a 42-inch Toro TimeCutter or compatible Lawn Boy, this $12.99 belt will get you mowing again. It’s a solid stopgap, but if you mow tough or tall grass frequently, spend the extra for an OEM belt — it’ll likely last longer and reduce downtime.
